Morning Tea for Adelaide University International Education Advisory Group
It’s Rod’s and my pleasure to welcome you to Government House this morning, the oldest Government House in Australia.
Thank you for coming to South Australia to inform the development of international education at Adelaide University.
I thank you for your past support of the University of South Australia and University of Adelaide, and for your contributions this week, which will help to make the new Adelaide University a success.
I have no doubt university staff have benefited greatly from your expertise.
As a state, we are grateful for your support of the South Australian education sector.
Adelaide currently hosts international students from more than 130 nationalities at our city’s schools and institutions.
We are a culturally diverse city which values the contribution of international students in our classrooms, workplaces and broader community.
In turn, international students benefit from the education and experience that only Adelaide can offer.
As patrons of StudyAdelaide, Rod and I observe firsthand the genuine commitment from the South Australian government and community to support international students.
We are proud of the access to industries and educational experience we offer, as well as the support we provide to international students who chose to study in our city.
This includes the experiences they receive in the classroom, as well as the opportunities provided by StudyAdelaide, which hosts over 100 events for international students in Adelaide each year.
Each year we look forward to hosting a Christmas Party for students in the grounds of Government House, as well as presenting awards at the StudyAdelaide International Students Awards ceremony.

Today is your opportunity to experience some of South Australia’s tourist highlights, including the D’Arenburg Cube, the McLaren Vale wine region, and our city’s cultural east end.
Adelaide is currently celebrating its March festival season, and I hope some of you will take in a show or two as part of Adelaide Festival or Adelaide Fringe!
We wish you an enjoyable day and thank you once again for your support as we work together to provide international students with an outstanding educational and life experience, right here in Adelaide.
