Legacy Christmas Party

Merry Christmas everyone and welcome to Government House.

Rod and I as your patron, are pleased to hold this Legacy Christmas Party here in the grounds and are proud to support the work of Legacy throughout the year.

Christmas is always a time for joy, for coming together, and for sharing in love and laughter.

But I also know that, for some of us, it’s a time of missing loved ones who are no longer with us.

To the young people here today, we understand how tough this season can be.

Know that you are not alone—we are here for you, now and always.

This Christmas, and every day, we honour the strength and love your families have shown in serving our nation.

Your resilience, courage and hope inspire us all.

A special thanks to Legacy for supporting 110 youth, and some 2,600 beneficiaries, across South Australia and Broken Hill.

Your dedication ensures that no young person faces these challenges alone.

As you enjoy today’s activities and the festivities, I want to extend an invitation for you to join us again at Government House for our monthly Lunch on the Lawns series.

Our next event will be on Friday, January 6 from noon until 2pm – and a great way to continue sharing in the joy of the season.

And of course, I know we are all eagerly awaiting a special visitor today – I too, am looking forward to seeing Santa Claus today!

It seems he’s come a little early this year, and I’m sure we’re all excited to see him here!
