Legacy Christmas Party

Welcome to Government House for the annual Legacy Christmas Party.

Some of you may have attended last year, while for others this may be your first time whether at the party, or also at Government House – a warm welcome to you all.

As Legacy Patron, I am pleased to host the Legacy Christmas Party here in the grounds and am proud to support the organisation’s work throughout the year.

A highlight for me as Patron earlier this year was cutting the ribbon at the Legacy Torch Relay and taking part as First Torch Bearer, being cheered on by the Legacy family and witnessing the support of the broader South Australian community for your important work.

I have also been pleased to welcome Legacy clients, including some here today, at Government House for our public events, such as our Open Day in May, when I believe the Kemp family took part in planting a tree.

Friends,

Christmas is a time when we can come together in friendship and enjoy each other’s company.

For children, it’s a magical time and I thank Legacy’s staff and volunteers for helping to make this magic happen ensuring Christmas is a special time for them.

At the same time, I know that this time of the year can be challenging, as we think of family and friends who can’t be, or are no longer, with us, and whom we miss.

Please also know that I and my family are thinking of you over the festive season.

I look forward to speaking with many of you, as we enjoy a range of activities, games and some lunch.

I think Father Christmas is also going to drop by, hopefully with some presents for the very special children here today!

If you enjoy spending time in our gardens, I would love to see you back here on the first Friday of every month for Lunch on the Lawns, where we open the grounds for the public to come in and eat their lunch while enjoying music from a local band or orchestra.
