Legacy Christmas Party
Merry Christmas everyone and welcome to Government House.
Rod and I as your patron, are pleased to hold this Legacy Christmas Party here in the grounds and are proud to support your work throughout the year.
From the outside, Government House looks like a grand place, but we aim also for it to be a welcoming place, where we hope many South Australians can experience the magnificent gardens and simply enjoy being here.
Already as I look around and can see the face painting station, the petting zoo and other activities awaiting us, I know it’s going to be a fun time.
Christmas is a time when we can come together in friendship and enjoy each other’s company.
For the children, it’s a magical time and Legacy’s work ensures Christmas is a special time for them.
Yet, I also know that this time of the year can be challenging, as we think of family and friends who can’t be with us and miss them.
But memories of their commitment to service, of their personalities, their little ways, means that they will always be a special part of you and a part of your cherished memories.
Friends.
When Rod and I have travelled the State, we have often met Legacy children and young people at various school, RSL and other functions.
We loved hearing their proud stories and learn what they are doing at school or in the community.
If anyone here sees us out and about in the future, we would love you to come up and say hi and tell us about yourselves.
I am certainly looking forward to taking part in the Legacy Centenary Torch relay in May.
Before then, you may even want to come back and visit Government House for our Lunch on the Lawns events on the first Friday of every month over Summer and early Autumn. You would all be most welcome.
Dear all, Rod and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
We have Santa coming a little later and I hope he finds something special for all of you young ones somewhere in his sack.
Merry Christmas everyone!
