Catalyst Foundation Networking Breakfast and launch of #MyLifeChoices Expo
Good morning everyone!
It is my great pleasure to be with you today in support of the Catalyst Foundation, and to launch the My Life Choices Expo and Independent Living Centre.
I applaud Catalyst Foundation’s efforts to ensure South Australians have the right information and services related to ageing and disability.
I was impressed to learn Catalyst Foundation provided free information, support and advice to more than 12,000 South Australians in the last 12 months.
I acknowledge the organisation’s work to help people navigate aged care, disability, health and housing systems, especially while faced with the difficulties presented by COVID.
When people reach out for help on these kinds of issues, it is often during a very challenging time of their lives. You know.
Two years ago our then 21 year old daughter experienced an accident that has affected her mobility.
I will always be grateful to the people and organisations which provided us with accurate, relevant and timely information on the avenues of support available to us.
They removed what could have been a source of stress for our family, as we sought to help our daughter along her journey.
One topic we needed to learn about was assistance technologies and equipment, to help maximise her quality of life and independence.
On this note I am pleased today to officially launch the Independent Living Centre, for which Catalyst has recently assumed responsibility from the Department for Human Services.
I am confident that Catalyst is ideally placed to provide information and advice on these topics, and I wish the organisation well with these new responsibilities.
Ladies and gentlemen
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the exhibitors in the room all the very best for today’s Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo.
From aged care to home care and support providers, health services and devices, as well as advocacy and employment services…
I commend the depth and breadth of knowledge available to visitors at the expo.
I thank the sponsors for their generous involvement and to the Catalyst Foundation for organising the event.
I was impressed to learn that the last expo in 2019 received a 99.8 percent approval rating from its visitors. I aspire to achieve the same high rate for our many visitors to Government House.
Once again, thank you to Catalyst for its kind invitation to attend today’s breakfast.
I wish you all a good day and an excellent expo experience.
Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC
GOVERNOR OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
