On Wednesday morning, Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Bunten made a visit to the City of Mitcham Council, where, at Pasadena Community Centre, they met with Dr Heather Holmes-Ross, Mayor, Mr Matthew Pears, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sean McNamara, Manager Community Development and Libraries, and Ms Rebecca Olthoff, Project Manager, Pasadena Community Centre.
Afterwards they toured the Pasadena Community Centre and were briefed on operations, followed by a meet and greet with members of the Pasadena Community Centre Advisory Group. Attendees were Ms Jody Moate, Active Citizen of the Year 2024, Ms Sudhashree Somers, Young Citizen of the Year 2024, Ms Helen Loudis, Ms Norah Frost, Ms Lisa Ibro, and Ms Rebecca Wu.
Later, the Governor and Mr Bunten, accompanied by Dr Holmes-Ross and Ms Kate O’Neill, General Manager, Organisational and Community Development, visited the Pasadena Biodiversity Corridor at Sierra Nevada Reserve, where they were met by Mr Daniel Baker, General Manager, Engineering and Horticulture, and Mr Rick Hennig, Strategic Projects Engineer, and briefed on operations.
Later again, the Governor and Mr Bunten visited Colebrook Reconciliation Park, where they met the Blackwood Reconciliation Group Executive Committee; representatives of the Aboriginal Lands Trust; City of Mitcham’s Citizen of the Year 2024 Ms Dianne Grigg; former residents of Colebrook; current and former ground staff of Colebrook; and the Mayor and council members, followed by lunch.
In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr Bunten, accompanied by Mr Sean McNamara, visited the Tiwu Kumangka facility, and were briefed on operations, and met Mr Tim Agius, Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation member.
In the evening, at Glenelg, the Governor and Mr Bunten attended the AFL’s Gather Round Welcome Dinner.
During the day, students from St Paul Lutheran School toured Government House.
The grounds of Government House will be open to the public tomorrow (Friday, 5 April) as part of the “Lunch on the Lawns” program, including a garden tour conducted by The Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide, of which the Governor and Mr Bunten are joint patrons, live music provided by The Royal Australian Navy Band South Australia: The Commodores, and football games provided by the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), of which the Governor is patron.
