On Wednesday morning, Her Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, travelled to Kangaroo Island to participate in Kangaroo Island Settlement Day celebrations.

On arrival they met with Mr Michael Pengilly, Mayor, and Mr Greg Georgopoulos, Chief Executive Officer, Kangaroo Island, visited the Old Mulberry Tree, Pioneer Cemetery and historic precinct at Reeves Point.

Afterwards at the Pioneer Memorial, Kingscote, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, addressed the guests and presented the Young Achiever of the Year Award at the Settlement Day Ceremony, followed by a morning tea.

In the afternoon the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, visited Kangaroo Island Community Education, Kingscote Campus and addressed the students, before returning to Adelaide.

Her Excellency the Governor has appointed Dr James Muecke AM to be Governor's Deputy from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, 27 July 2022.
