On Tuesday, Her Excellency the Governor continued her official visit to the State’s Far North.
In the morning, at BHP Olympic Dam, the Governor met with Mr Jeremy Milne, Head of Corporate Affairs, BHP Copper SA, and Mr Roy Blight, Chief Executive Officer, Roxby Downs Council, where she undertook an underground tour.
Later, at Lions Park, Roxby Downs, the Governor officially launched the Roxby Downs Horticulture Project, unveiled a plaque and planted a tree to commemorate the launch.
Afterwards, at Roxby Downs Station, the Governor, accompanied by Dr Roger Thomas, Kokatha man, met with Mrs Jolene Wagener and Mr Adam Wagener, Station Managers, took part in a Kokatha On Country Experience, toured the station, and was briefed on operations.
In the afternoon, at Roxby Downs Station, the Governor attended a lunch with Dr Roger Thomas, Mrs Jolene Wagener and Mr Adam Wagener and members of the Andamooka Progress and Opal Miners Association; Ms Katalin Wilby, Public Officer and Ms Lara Lukich, Committee Member.
Afterwards, at Andamooka, the Governor visited the Andamooka Observatory, where she was met by Ms Leila Day, Owner/Operator, and Mr Conan Fahey, Owner/Operator.
Later, at Andamooka, the Governor visited the Andamooka Opal Showroom Underground Opal and Mineral Museum, where she was met by Ms Margot Duke, Owner/Operator, and Mr Peter Taubers, Owner/Operator.
Afterwards, at the Andamooka Community Hall, the Governor attended an afternoon tea with community leaders from volunteer community programs, services and organisations.
In the evening, the Governor returned to Adelaide.
