On Tuesday morning, Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Bunten departed for an official visit to the Eyre Peninsula, where, at Ceduna Area School, they met with staff and students and took questions from members of the school’s Student Representative Council.
Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Bunten visited Crossways Lutheran School, where they received an overview and briefing on school matters, engaged with Student Representative Council members, and Year 9 and 10 Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) students.
Later, at the Ceduna Arts and Culture Centre, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Ken Maynard, Mayor, Mr Timothy Coote, Chief Executive Officer, District Council of Ceduna, and Mr Wayne Miller, Chief Executive Officer, Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation; toured the current facility, and, afterwards, visited the site of the future Ceduna Arts and Culture Centre.
Afterwards, at the Ceduna Council Chambers, the Governor and Mr Bunten attended a lunch hosted by the District Council of Ceduna. Guests were Mayor Maynard; Mr Coote; and Councillors Ms Joyce Brewster, Ms Michele Jacobsen, and Ms Hayley Nicholls.
In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr Bunten, accompanied by Mr Maynard and Mr Coote, toured the Port of Thevenard and were briefed on operations.
Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Bunten travelled to Streaky Bay, where they were met by Mr Travis Barber, Mayor, and Mrs Penny Williams, Acting Chief Executive, District Council of Streaky Bay, and received a briefing on operations.
Later, at the Streaky Bay Supper Room Studio Gallery, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, addressed the guests at a community afternoon tea hosted by the Council.
In the evening, at the Streaky Bay Hotel, the Governor and Mr Bunten hosted a dinner for Mayor Barber and Mrs Jo Barber, and Mrs Penny Williams and Mr Kim Williams.
Her Excellency the Governor has appointed The Honourable Chief Justice Christopher Kourakis to be Governor’s Deputy from 7:00am on Tuesday, 13 August to 4:30pm on Thursday, 15 August.
