On Monday morning, Her Excellency the Governor departed Adelaide for an official visit to the State’s South East, where, at Penola, she met with students and staff from Penola High School.
Afterwards, in Millicent, the Governor met with students and staff from Millicent High School, before meeting with Ms Kathy Bell, Millicent High School teacher, and Ms Jenny Bishop, Aboriginal Support Officer, for a tour of Maruwinya Mraat, Miya ba Miya (Aboriginal meeting place garden).
In the afternoon, at the Wattle Range Council Millicent offices, the Governor met with Mr Des Noll, Mayor; Mr Ben Gower; Chief Executive Officer; Ms Emma Clay; Director Development Services; Mr Paul Duka, Director Corporate Services; Mr Chris Brodie, Councillor; Ms Emma Castine, Councillor; Ms Deb Agnew, Councillor; Ms Sharon Cox, Councillor; Mr John Drew, Councillor; Mr Dale Price, Councillor; and Mr Richard Cassidy, Councillor; and received a briefing on council operations.
Later, in Tantanoola, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Noll and Mr Gower, met with Mr Adam Carpenter, Mill Manager, Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Milli, where she received a tour of the mill and was briefed on operations.
Afterwards, also in Tantanoola, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Noll and Mr Gower, met Mr Ian Lines and Mrs Sue Lines, Owners, Holla-Fresh, where she received a tour of the facility and was briefed on operations.
Later in Millicent, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Noll and Mr Gower, met Mr Barry Long, Chairman, Millicent Museum; Mr Peter Foster OAM, Honorary Curator, Horse Drawn Vehicle Collection; and Mr Jim Hyland, Committee Member, Millicent Museum, where she received a tour of the museum and was briefed on operations.
In the evening, in Naracoorte, the Governor hosted a dinner for Naracoorte Lucindale Council representatives. Guests were Mr Patrick Ross, Mayor, Naracoorte Lucindale Council, and Mrs Wendy James-Ross; Mr Trevor Smart, Chief Executive Officer; Ms Monique Crossling, Deputy Mayor.
