On Tuesday morning at Parliament House, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the 38th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Australia and Pacific Regional Conference hosted by the CPA – South Australia Branch.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Dr Megan Clark AC, Chief Executive, Australian Space Agency and Mr Jim Whalley, Chief Executive Officer, Nova Defence.

Afterwards the Governor received Mr Steve Callister, National Chairman, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Mrs Helen Dundon, Chair, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (South Australia).

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a dinner for the members of the Shadow Ministry and their partners.

On Monday morning at Government House, Mrs Le hosted a morning tea for members of the Returned and Services League of Australia - McLaren Vale & District Sub Branch Women's Auxiliary.

In the afternoon His Excellency the Governor received Her Excellency Mrs Marion Derckx, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Mr Frank Weits, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Australia and Mr Rolf Karst, Senior Policy Officer, Trade and Economic Affairs, Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sydney.

Later the Governor undertook a visit to McLaren Vale wine region where he attended a meeting with the McLaren Vale Grape Wine and Tourism Association at Wirra Wirra Vineyards, followed by a tour of the Winery and a briefing on its operations.  Afterwards the Governor visited Shingleback Winery and was briefed on its operations.

In the evening the Governor unveiled a plaque and officially opened the new Dowie Doole Cellar Door followed by a tour, before returning to Government House.

On Sunday afternoon at Eudunda, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, addressed the guests at the centenary celebrations of the Returned and Services League of Australia, Eudunda Sub Branch.

Later in the afternoon at Paralowie, the Governor and Mrs Le attended a function for the 42-year reunion of Vietnamese boat people who arrived in Australia in November 1977.

On Saturday morning at North Adelaide, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le attended the annual commemorative church service of the Royal Australian Navy - Navy Headquarters South Australia.

On Friday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception for the presentation of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust 2019 Churchill Fellowship Awards.

In the afternoon at Modbury, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, addressed the guests and presented awards at the Meals on Wheels South Australia annual awards day ceremony.

In the evening at the Adelaide Festival Centre, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, addressed the guests at the launch of the Adelaide Italian Festival.

On Thursday morning His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le received Mr Peter Jožef Česnik, Slovenian Minister for Slovenians Abroad and Ms Alenka Belič; Mr Jurij Rifelj, Slovenian Ambassador to Australia; Mr Emil Karajič, Dr Zvone Žigon and Mr Adrian Vatovec, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia, followed by a morning tea.

In the afternoon in the grounds of Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a garden reception for representatives of organisations of which they are patrons or honorary members.

On Wednesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia.

In the afternoon the Governor received Mr Bill Kelty AC, Hawke Lecturer 2019; Ms Pauline Carr, Chancellor, University of South Australia; Professor David Lloyd, Vice Chancellor and President, University of South Australia; and Ms Blanche d’Alpuget, Ms Jacinta Thompson, Mr Alan Brideson, Ms Mary Stuart and Ms Jill Saunders, followed by a luncheon

On Tuesday morning at the Adelaide Convention Centre, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the 2019 annual Scientific Meeting of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception for the presentation of the UNESCO Clubs Adelaide Chapter Awards.

On Monday morning at the State National War Memorial, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le planted a cross, and placed a wreath and tribute in memory of the fallen at the Remembrance Day Service organised by The Returned and Services League of Australia (SA Branch).

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to thank supporters and volunteers of the Australian Refugee Association.

On Saturday morning at John Martin House, “The Pines”, Plympton, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the Annual State Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Knights of the Southern Cross (SA) Inc.

Later in the morning at the RAAF Base, Edinburgh, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, attended the Royal Australian Air Force Air Show, ‘Vimy to Fifth Generation in 100 Years’.

Later that evening in Glenside, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, officially launched the Mahmood Martin Foundation.

On Friday afternoon at Riverton, His Excellency the Governor undertook a tour of the Riverton Light Gallery.

In the evening at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Governor and Mrs Le attended a State Dinner hosted by the Premier of South Australia to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the flight of South Australian brothers Ross and Keith Smith from England to Australia in 1919.

During the day, students from Thebarton Senior College toured Government House.

On Thursday morning His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards at Regency Park, the Governor presented achievement awards at the 2019 Annual General Meeting of Novita.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Mr Rob Sangster, President, Mr Charles Bagot, Vice‑President, Committee Members and the General Manager of The Adelaide Club, followed by a luncheon.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to celebrate the 2019 Business SA Export Awards.

Afterwards at Parliament House, the Governor was hosted by The Honourable Andrew McLachlan CSC MLC, President of the Legislative Council.

On Wednesday morning at the Adelaide Town Hall, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the RSL SA/NT Remembrance Day function hosted by the Returned and Services League of Australia (SA Branch).

Afterwards at Government House, the Governor received The Honourable Vincent Tarzia MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly.

In the afternoon the Governor received Mr Ben Rillo, Chair, Adelaide Italian Festival and Mr Phillip Donato OAM, President, South Australian Italian Association.

Later, at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to acknowledge the South Australian nominees for 2020 Australian of the Year Awards.

In the evening at the Adelaide Oval, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, addressed the guests and presented awards at a function hosted by the Australia Day Council of South Australia to announce the winners of the 4 categories involved in the Australian of the Year Awards program who will go on represent South Australia for the national award.

On Tuesday evening at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a dinner for members of the Executive Council and their partners.

On Monday morning at Government House, Mrs Le hosted a morning tea for members of The Girls’ Brigade South Australia.

In the afternoon His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to mark Festival 150, the program of commemorations of the 150th anniversary of St Peter’s Cathedral.

On Sunday evening in Norwood, the Governor addressed the gathering at the 60th Anniversary of the Greek Orthodox Community and Parish of Prophet Elias, Norwood and Eastern Suburbs.

On Saturday morning at Adelaide Oval, His Excellency the Governor officially launched the Ethnic Schools Association of South Australia Inc.’s 2019 Children’s Day.  In the afternoon, in the grounds of Government House, Mrs Le addressed Cystic Fibrosis South Australia Inc.’s ‘Time of Remembrance’ ceremony.  Later, at Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron at Outer Harbor, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, officially opened the summer sailing season and unveiled a plaque to commemorate the Squadron’s 150th anniversary.

On Friday afternoon at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le received Mr Creagh O’Connor AM, Chairman, and Directors of the Clipper Ship City of Adelaide, Mr Peter Christopher, Mr Tom Chapman AM, Mr Mark Gilbert and Mr Richard Smith OAM, followed by a luncheon.

Later the Governor received Mr Christopher John, Chief Executive, Prince’s Trust Australia, and Ms Jasmine Cooper Sutton, Director, Enterprise for Veterans Program.

In the evening at Somerton Park, the Governor addressed the guests and presented awards at the 2019 Debating SA award presentation function.

Afterwards at Oaklands Park, the Governor addressed the guests and presented a certificate to Mr Siva Selvakulalingam OAM on the occasion of his 80th Birthday hosted by the Hindu Society of South Australia.

During the day, students from Fairview Park Primary School toured Government House.

On Thursday morning His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later at the RAAF Association Mitcham Branch, Hawthorn, the Governor conducted a special investiture and presented the insignia for an award in the Order of Australia to Mr Clement McArdle OAM.

On Wednesday morning at Kent Town, Mrs Le officially opened the South Australian Country Women's Association’s Annual General Meeting.

During the day at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as Chair of the Selection Committee, convened the final interviews for the selection of the 2020 Rhodes Scholar for South Australia and hosted the announcement of the successful candidate.  The Committee comprised of Professor Lisa Hill, Deputy Chair, Professor Caroline McMillen, Dr Eva Balan-Vnuk, Mr Martin Haese, Dr Alyssa Fitzpatrick and Professor Nicholas Jose, and was attended by Dr Justin Chalker and Professor John Williams, State Secretaries of the South Australian Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee.

In the evening in Adelaide, the Governor and Mrs Le attended the 30th Anniversary celebrations of Boileau Business Technology.

On Tuesday morning at Goolwa, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the National Community Foundations Forum hosted by the Fleurieu Community Foundation and Australian Community Philanthropy.

In the afternoon, the Governor received South Australian Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee members and short-listed candidates, followed by a luncheon.

Later the Governor received Her Excellency Mrs Ma. Hellen Barber De La Vega, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Australia; Mrs Ma. Corina Reyes, First Secretary and Consul, Philippine Embassy; and Mr Darryl Johnson, Honorary Consul of the Philippines in South Australia.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to celebrate 30 years of Ethnic Link Services.

On Monday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a morning tea for members of Rotary District 9500 and Rotary Club of Adelaide, and delegates visiting from Rotary District 5080 USA / Canada.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception for students participating in the National Youth Science Forum.

On Sunday morning at Torrens Parade Ground, the Governor addressed the gathering, met with participants and volunteers and participated in the annual Young Veteran’s Charity Walk organised by the Trojan’s Trek Foundation.

On Saturday afternoon in the grounds of Government House, His Excellency the Governor, who is Deputy Prior of St John Ambulance Australia SA, addressed the guests and presented awards at the annual South Australian St John Awards Day Ceremony.

Also in the afternoon at Tusmore, Mrs Le officially launched the Rose Society of South Australia’s History book at the 2019 Spring Rose Show.

 

On Friday morning at Government House, Mrs Le hosted a morning tea for committee members of The South Australian Country Women’s Association – Snowtown Branch.

In the late afternoon in the grounds of Government House, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, addressed the guests and presented awards at the Governor’s Farewell for International Students organised by StudyAdelaide.

On Thursday morning His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Le hosted an afternoon tea to acknowledge members of the Polish Women’s Association in Adelaide.

On Wednesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable Vincent Tarzia MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly.

In the afternoon the Governor received Lieutenant Colonel John Holloway, Commanding Officer, 1st Armoured Regiment, Australian Army; Wing Commander Glenn Orton, Commanding Officer, No 24 (City of Adelaide) Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force; and Superintendent David O'Donovan, Officer in Charge, Special Tasks and Rescue Group, South Australia Police, followed by a luncheon.

On Tuesday morning at Adelaide Oval, His Excellency the Governor officially opened the international conference: Designing the Archive hosted by the Australian Society of Archivists, International Council on Archives, Archives and Records Association of New Zealand Te Huinga and Pacific Regional Branch International Council on Archives.

Late in the grounds of Government House, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Le, dedicated “The Governor’s Rose Garden”, developed with the cooperation of the Rose Society of South Australia.  Also present were the former Governors The Honourable Sir Eric Neal AC CVO; The Honourable Mrs Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE; Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RAN and his wife Mrs Liz Scarce.  Other guests included Mr Doug Gregory, President of the Rose Society and Mrs Pam Gregory; and members of the Rose Society, Mrs Wendy Trimper and Mr Merv Trimper, and Mr Bob Gregory.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception to acknowledge the first anniversary of the National Apology to Victims and Survivors of Institutional Childhood Sexual Abuse.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception for the presentation of the 2019 Student Citizenship Awards of The Order of Australia Association - South Australian Branch.

On Monday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Le hosted a reception for the presentation of the Children's Week Association of South Australia 2019 Awards.

In the evening the Governor received Mr Carmelo Ezpeleta, Chief Executive and Mr Carlos Ezpeleta, Sporting Director, Dorna Sports; Mr Manuel Ortigosa, Managing Director, Global Intertrade; Dr Sam Shahin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer and Mr Mark Warren, General Manager, The Bend Motorsport Park; and Mr Jim McDowell, Chief Executive and Mr Bill Spurr AO, Member of the Premier’s Economic Advisory Council, Department of the Premier and Cabinet, followed by a dinner.

On Sunday morning at North Adelaide, the Governor attended a special worship service in celebration of the 160th anniversary of Brougham Place Uniting Church.
