On Wednesday afternoon at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received Mr Patrick Dewar, Chairman, and members of the board of Lockheed Martin Australia.

In the evening the Governor, as patron of The Leaders Institute of South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to launch the 2014 Governor's Leadership Foundation Program.

On Tuesday morning His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception in the grounds of Government House to present the Governor’s Multicultural Awards.

Later the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon.  Guests included Mr Hieu Van Le AO, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia and Mrs Lan Le.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner for Congressman Mike McIntyre, Senior Member of the United States House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, and Mrs Denise McIntyre.  Other guests included Mr Mike Terry, a member of the Congressman’s staff; The Honourable Jack Snelling MP,  Minister for Defence Industries; Mr Martin Hamilton-Smith MP, Shadow Minister for Economic and Regional Development and Ms Stavroula Raptis; Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer, Defence SA and Mrs Jan Fletcher; Mr Chris Burns CSC, Chief Executive Officer, Defence Teaming Centre and Mrs Linda Burns.

On Monday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received the Honourable Jack Snelling MP, Minister for Veterans' Affairs.

In the afternoon the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, officially opened the Adelaide Koala and Wildlife Hospital at Plympton.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to welcome Rotarians from Toronto, Canada participating in Friendship Exchange with local Rotary District 9520.

Afterwards, the Governor received Mr Peter Nash, National Chairman; Mr Con Tragakis, State Chairman, and Mr Gary Wingrove, Chief Executive Officer, KPMG.

On Sunday morning the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, who is patron South Australian Women's Memorial Playing Fields Trust, attended the 2014 Bangka Day Memorial Service at May Mills Pavilion, St Marys.  The Governor and Mrs Scarce placed a wreath and tribute as part of the service and Mrs Scarce presented grants and awards.

On Saturday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council, at which the Governor prorogued and dissolved the Parliament of South Australia and issued writs for a General Election in South Australia to be held on the 15th March 2014.

In the evening the Governor, as patron of Athletics South Australia, and Mrs Scarce watched competition during the Adelaide Track Classic at the SA Athletics Stadium, Mile End.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers and supporters of the Playford Community Fund.

In the afternoon the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

Afterwards at Government House, the Governor received Sir Eric Neal AC CVO.

Later in the Torrens Building, the Governor, as Chair of the Carnegie Mellon University Australia Joint Advisory Board, addressed the gathering at the farewell function for Professor Terry Buss, Executive Director of Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College Australia.

In the evening the Governor, as patron, addressed the gathering and presented the trophy to the winning team at the Country Carnival Cricket Association end of carnival function at Walkerville Oval.

Afterwards at the Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the opening of the Adelaide Fringe.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later the Governor received Mr Bret Morris, former Chair, House and Grounds Committee of Government House.

Afterwards the Governor received The Hon Jack Snelling MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs.

In the afternoon the Governor received Professor Annette Summers AO RFD, Professorial Fellow, Flinders University.

In the evening the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers and supporters of the Cora Barclay Centre.

Students from Redeemer Lutheran School, Nuriootpa, toured Government House.

On Wednesday afternoon at Government House His Excellency the Governor received His Excellency Mr Zainal Abidin Ahmad, High Commissioner for Malaysia; His Excellency Mr Zakaria Ahmad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Mr Phomma Khammanichanh, Ambassador of Laos People's Democratic Republic, and His Excellency Mr Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank supporters of The University of Adelaide’s Professions Student Ambassador Program.

Afterwards at the Regal Theatre, Kensington Park, the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Barkuma, attended a fundraising movie night featuring the new film “Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom”.

On Tuesday morning in the grounds of Government House, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests and presented awards at the 2014 Merit Ceremony hosted by the SACE Board of South Australia.

In the afternoon at the Adelaide Oval, the Governor welcomed delegates at the forum “Beyond Holden - driving the future of our State” hosted by the Committee for Economic Development Australia.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor, as patron of the Council for International Trade and Commerce South Australia, hosted a reception to welcome overseas and interstate delegates attending the ASEAN Australia Business Forum.

On Monday afternoon His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the funeral of the late Mr Leon Coppins at Centennial Park.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Mr Fred Hansen, Chief Executive, Renewal SA.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner.  Guests included Mr Tony Davison and Mrs Anna Davison, and Mr Jeffrey Grosset and Ms Stephanie Toole.

On Sunday afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Coordinating Italian Committee, attended the Carnevale Italian Festival at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor, as patron, and accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the gathering at the Sammy D Foundation Corporate Breakfast at the Adelaide Oval.

Afterwards at Government House, the Governor received Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC (Ret’d), Member of the Defence SA Advisory Board and Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA.

In the afternoon the Governor, as a guest of RUAG Aviation and Rosebank Engineering Australia, attended the official opening of their South Australian Processing Facility at Wingfield.

In the evening at the Jam Factory, Adelaide, the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of His Excellency Mr Marcel Stutz, Ambassador of Switzerland, attended a reception in celebration of the official opening of the Processing Facility.

Afterwards the Governor, as patron of Special Olympics South Australia, and accompanied by Mrs Scarce, attended the National Cricket Invitational 2014 Opening Ceremony, and officially opened the Games at the Lutheran Church Cricket Grounds.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable Jay Weatherill MP, Premier of South Australia; accepted a Ministerial resignation; officiated at a swearing-in of Ministers to additional ministerial offices, and then presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards the Governor received Ms C Christensen, Manager, Cabinet Coordination, Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

Later in the grounds of Government House, the Governor participated in the Media Launch for The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) CEO Sleepout.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon for His Excellency Mr Marcel Stutz, Ambassador of Switzerland.  Other guests included Mr René Pfister, Honorary Consul of Switzerland; Mr A Brooking, State Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and participants in the Governor’s Leadership Foundation program.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner for the ‘Governor’s 10’ team who participated in the Santos Tour Down Under Bupa Community Challenge Tour in support of the Cancer Council SA.  Guests included The Honourable Jay Weatherill MP, Mr D Klingberg AO and Mrs Klingberg, Professor B Wilson and Mr K Bannister, Mr and Mrs D Knox, Mr and Mrs D Gallagher, Ms D Walford and Mr D Steel, Associate Professor B Griggs AM ASM and Dr M White, Mr and Mrs B Bishop, Ms J Dnistrianski and Mr G Knight, Mr and Mrs B Ragless, and Mr and Mrs T Flower.

On Tuesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the Defence Reserves Support Council - South Australia.

In the afternoon His Excellency the Governor received Mr Alan Martin, Chair, House and Grounds Committee of Government House.

On Monday morning at Techport Australia, Osborne, His Excellency the Governor, as a guest of the Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance, attended the keel-laying ceremony for the future destroyer ‘Brisbane’.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to welcome delegates attending the 23rd Australian Conference on Microscopy and Microanalysis and the 2014 International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

In the evening at Queens Wharf, Port Adelaide, the Governor addressed a gathering to mark the arrival of the City of Adelaide Clipper Ship.

On Sunday evening at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the 50th anniversary gala dinner of the 4th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment Association.

On Saturday morning at Torrens Parade Ground, Mrs Scarce, as patron, attended the annual general meeting of The Naval Association of Australia - South Australian Section - WRANS Sub Section.

In the afternoon His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Chinatown Adelaide of South Australia, attended the street party held in the Chinatown district to celebrate the 2014 Lunar New Year of the Snake.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Scouts Australia – South Australian Branch, attended the basketball game between the Adelaide 36ers and Cairns Taipans at the Adelaide Arena, Findon.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

In the afternoon the Governor attended a Port Adelaide Football Club event at the Southern Plaza, Adelaide Oval.

Afterwards at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a Vietnamese New Year dinner at the Vietnam Restaurant, Pennington.

On Thursday morning the Governor received The Honourable John Snelling MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs; Mr Richard McLachlan, General Manager, Renewal SA, and Mr Tung Ngo, Ministerial Adviser.

His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers of Helen Mayo House.

On Wednesday afternoon at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of Athletics South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to acknowledge the induction of Mrs Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE in the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame.

Afterwards His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable John Snelling MP, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs; Mr Tung Ngo, Ministerial Adviser, and Mr Paul Sykes of Veterans SA.

 

On Sunday morning in Gilberton, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, as guests of Her Worship the Mayor of The Corporation of the Town of Walkerville, Ms Heather Wright, officially opened the new Civic and Community Centre and attended a 2014 Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

Afterwards the Governor, as patron of the Order of Australia Association - South Australian Branch, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests at the Australia Day Multi Faith celebration at Elder Hall.

Later His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Events South Australia, attended the Santos Tour Down Under Stage 6 along Bartels Road, East End of Adelaide.

In the evening at Elder Park, the Governor as patron-in-chief of the Australia Day Council of South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, attended the Australia Day in the City celebrations.

On Saturday at Penny’s Hill Winery, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of University of South Australia, attended a luncheon to celebrate Stage 5 of the Santos Tour Down Under.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Events South Australia, attended the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under Legends' Night Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor led the ‘Governor's 10' team in the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under Bupa Challenge Tour in support of Cancer Council SA.

In the evening at the Crowne Plaza, His Excellency the Governor, as patron-in-chief of the Australia Day Council of South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the gathering and presented awards to recipients at the Australia Day Awards function.

In the morning at Government House, Mrs Scarce received Ms Rosemary Warmington AM, Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Moira Deslandes, Senior Policy and Carer Engagement Officer, Carers Association of South Australia.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards the Governor received Mr Ray Clark, President and Mr Andrew Daly, Executive Director from the Royal Society for the Blind of South Australia.

In the afternoon the Governor received Mr Hieu Van Le AO, Lieutenant-Governor of South Australia.

Later in Fulham Gardens, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a private Australia Day Garden Party.

On Wednesday morning at Government House His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Clipper Ship ‘City of Adelaide' Preservation Trust, received Mr Creagh O'Connor, Chairman and Mr Mark Gilbert, Director.

In the afternoon in Stirling, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, presented the winner’s trophy at the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under Stage Finish.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor welcomed a delegation of representatives from Sundrop Farms, and the Grosvenor Group in the United Kingdom.

On Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a luncheon with Mr James Bruce, Honorary Consul for the United Kingdom in South Australia, and Mrs Diana Bruce.

Later at Government House the Governor received Ms Victoria Cox, a shortlisted candidate in the 2014 Rhodes Scholarship selection for South Australia.

On Monday morning at the Intercontinental Adelaide, His Excellency the Governor attended the Breakfast For A Reason in support of the Cancer Council, hosted by Mr Daniel Gallagher, General Manager SA/NT, Bupa.

In the afternoon the Governor travelled to the northern Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley regions in order to meet with members of the Country Fire Service and local communities affected by the recent bushfires.

On Sunday morning His Excellency the Governor participated in the 2014 Ride Like Crazy event convened by the South Australia Police.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of Events South Australia, viewed the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under People’s Choice Classic on Victoria Drive, Adelaide.

On Friday afternoon at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received His Excellency Mr John Berry, Ambassador of the United States of America to Australia.

Afterwards His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon for the Ambassador.  Other guests included Ms M Warlick, Consul General of the United States of America, Mr R Spencer of the SA Economic Development Board, Mr J Mahoney of Lockheed Martin, Mr P Evans of Raytheon Australia, Mr A Fletcher of Defence SA, Mr R Equid of AWD Alliance, Mr D Allott of BAE Systems Australia, Mr C Burns CSC of the Defence Teaming Centre, Mr S Ludlam of ASC Pty Ltd and Mr G O’Leary, Political and Economic Advisor, United States Consulate General.

Later the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

In the evening His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Harvest Festival McLaren Vale Gala Dinner at Serafino Resort Hotel.
