On Wednesday morning in the Torrens Building, His Excellency the Governor participated in a meeting of the Carnegie Mellon University Australia Joint Advisory Board.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Dr P Kenny, Associate Dean, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Flinders University.

Afterwards the Governor, as patron of the Operation Flinders Foundation, received the Chairman Mr M Terlet AO and the Executive Director Mr J Shepherd AM, and Mr R Stobbe, Chief Executive Officer, SA Power Networks and Mr R Barton, Chief Barker, Variety - The Children’s Charity SA.

In the afternoon the Governor, as patron, received Associate Professor S Neuhaus CSC, Chair, The Repat Foundation.

Later the Honourable Speaker, the Honourable Members and Officers of the House of Assembly called at Government House and presented His Excellency the Address-in-Reply to the Governor’s speech which was delivered at the opening of the current session of Parliament.

Also in the afternoon, Mrs Scarce received Ms H Mundy, Trauma Teddy Coordinator, SA Ambulance Service.

On Tuesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor hosted and participated in a Shaping the Future of South Australia workshop on infrastructure.

His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret'd), Governor-General of Australia and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove departed Government House.

Later the Governor addressed the guests and opened the reconciliation art exhibition at the Northern Adelaide Medicare Local, Edinburgh North.
In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers of the 2014 INDOfest.

Afterwards at the Campania Club, Modbury North, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a gala reception to celebrate the Italian National Day.

On Monday evening at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, in the presence of His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret'd), Governor-General of Australia and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for the launch of “The Diggers’ Doctor”, a biography of Dr Donald Beard AM, authored by Mr Ashley Mallett.

Later the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner in honour of Their Excellencies.  Other guests included Mrs Maggie Beer AM, 2010 Senior Australian of the Year and Managing Director of Maggie Beer Products, and Mr Colin Beer; Mr d’Arry Osborn OAM, Patron of the Australian Wine Industry and Managing Director of d’Arenberg; Mr Neil Paulett, Chairman of the Clare Valley Winemakers and Managing Director, Paulett Wines and Mrs Alison Paulett; Dr Tim Cooper AM, Managing Director of Coopers Brewery and Mrs Barbara Cooper; Mr Mark Fraser LVO OAM, Acting Official Secretary to the Governor-General, and Captain Alvaro Charry ADC, Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General.

On Sunday evening His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret'd), Governor-General of Australia and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove arrived to stay at Government House.

Later the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner with Their Excellencies. 

On Saturday afternoon at St Peter’s Cathedral, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the wedding of one of the Governor’s Honorary Aides-de-Camp, Major Sam Benveniste, to Ms Anastasia Crossman.

On Friday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor hosted and participated in a Shaping the Future of South Australia workshop on trade.

Later at the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Memorial, Torrens Parade Ground, the Governor placed a tribute at the 2014 Aboriginal Veterans’ Commemorative Memorial Service.

In the evening the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests at the 2014 Queen's Birthday Dinner at The Adelaide Club.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards the Governor, as patron of the Leaders Institute of South Australia, received Ms Niki Vincent, Chief Executive Officer.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank supporters of the Mary MacKillop Foundation.

On Wednesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor hosted and participated in a Shaping the Future of South Australia workshop on regulatory reform.

In the afternoon at the Adelaide Club, the Governor, as patron of The Order of Australia Association - South Australian Branch, and Mrs Scarce attended a luncheon with committee members.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor, as patron of the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers.

On Tuesday morning at Government House His Excellency the Governor hosted and participated in a Shaping the Future of South Australia workshop on venture capital.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted an afternoon tea to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Sir Eric Neal AC CVO.

Later, the Governor accepted Ministerial resignations and presided over an Executive Council Meeting before officiating at a swearing-in ceremony, during which he appointed various Ministers to their offices.

Afterwards His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as joint ambassadors, hosted a reception to thank supporters of the Childhood Cancer Association.

In the evening at Bonython Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Don Dunstan Foundation, attended the 2014 Lowitja O’Donoghue Oration at the University of Adelaide.

On Monday morning at the Kooyonga Golf Club, His Excellency the Governor participated in a round of golf hosted by Mr Don Totino OAM, Managing Director, Festival City Wines and Spirits Pty Ltd.

In the evening at Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the performance of Speechless by the Australian String Quartet.

On Sunday morning at the Netball SA Stadium, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of Netball South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, watched the match between Adelaide Thunderbirds and the Melbourne Vixens.

On Saturday afternoon, as guests of the Adelaide Appeals Committee, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Charity Race Day Luncheon at the Morphettville Racecourse.

Later at the Adelaide Oval, as a guest of Port Adelaide Football Club, the Governor as co-patron, tossed the coin for the Aboriginal Power Cup Final for both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.  Afterwards the Governor attended the President’s function, before watching the match between Port Adelaide and Hawthorn.

Later, Mrs Scarce addressed the gathering and launched the Vietnam Mission Charity at the Chinese Banquet Gala Dinner at the Croatian Club, Ridleyton.

On Friday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of Novita Children’s Services, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to celebrate the organisation’s 75th Anniversary.

Afterwards at the Comix Comedy Cellar, Grenfell Street, the Governor, as patron, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, attended the Stand Up with Confidence Graduation Luncheon hosted by Service to Youth Inc. - Job Prospects Division.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor received Mr Hieu Van Le AO, Lieutenant-Governor of South Australia.

In the evening at the InterContinental, His Excellency the Governor, as Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Adelaide, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, presented trophies at the 51st annual International Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians presentation dinner.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards the Governor, as a guest of the Power Community Limited and as co-patron, attended the opening ceremony of the 2014 Aboriginal Power Cup at Alberton Oval.

Later, at Brighton Secondary School, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the school’s Big Morning Tea for cancer research.

In the afternoon the Honourable President, the Honourable Members and Officers of the Legislative Council called at Government House to present to His Excellency the Address-in-Reply to the Governor's speech which was delivered at the opening of the current session of Parliament.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for members of the Australiana Fund who are in Adelaide for the annual general meeting.

Afterwards at the State Library of South Australia, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the annual dinner of the Australiana Fund.

On Wednesday morning at the Arkaba Hotel, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia SA&NT, officially opened the Central Chapter Training Conference.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor received Air Vice-Marshall Brent Espeland AM (Ret’d), State President, Royal United Services Institute of South Australia.

In the evening His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, who is an Honorary Member of the Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders, attended the 2014 Handover Dinner.

On Tuesday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Robert Johanson, Chairman, Bendigo Bank, and was escorted on a tour of the new premises in Rundle Place, Grenfell Street.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor, as patron of the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the presentation of awards.

In the morning students from One Tree Hill Primary School toured Government House.

On Monday morning at the Kooyonga Golf Club, His Excellency the Governor, as Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Adelaide, participated in a round of golf as part of the 51st Annual International Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians gathering.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a musical performance and a reception for supporters of the Adelaide Youth Orchestras.

On Saturday morning at Ennes Park, Clare, the Governor and Mrs Scarce visited the annual Gourmet Markets, as guests of the Regional Food Group Clare Valley Cuisine.

Afterwards the Governor and Mrs Scarce visited Paulett Wines in the Clare Valley and Grosset Wines in Auburn, before returning to Adelaide.

On Friday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the presentation of the 2014 Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Awards and volunteer recognition awards.

Afterwards at the Clare Town Hall, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, officially opened the Clare Rotary Club Art Show in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend.

In the evening at the Clare Valley Showgrounds, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests at the Black Tie and Pearls Gala Dinner, hosted by the Clare Valley Wine Makers, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

Afterwards the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later at Edinburgh North, the Governor and Mrs Scarce toured the Northern Adelaide Medicare Local followed by morning tea with staff and clients.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to welcome guests attending The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem Annual National Chapter Meeting in Adelaide.

Later at the Adelaide Oval, the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Chairman of the Adelaide Football Club, attended the pre-match function and football game between the Adelaide Crows and Collingwood Magpies.

On Wednesday afternoon at the Adelaide Pavilion, Mrs Scarce addressed the guests at Life Care's Annual Volunteers Recognition Luncheon.

Later at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to acknowledge and thank volunteers for their contribution to the Unley community.

In the evening the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner to acknowledge the arrival of the Clipper Ship ‘City of Adelaide’.  Guests included The Honourable Dr S Close MP, Mr S Marshall MP, Mr J Tildesley, Mr C O'Connor AM, Mr M Heighton and Mrs E Heighton, Mr P Roberts and Mrs H Roberts, Mr T Chapman and Mrs W Chapman AM, Mr P Christopher, Mr M Gilbert and Ms S Byrne Gilbert, Mr R Smith and Mrs C Smith, Mrs R McKay, and Mrs M Hill-Smith.

On Tuesday afternoon at Government House His Excellency the Governor received Mr Bronson Horan, SA&NT State Manager, Soldier On.

Later the Governor, as patron of the Special Interest Music Centres in South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests and presented awards at the 2014 Awards event at the Brighton Secondary School Performing Arts Centre.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner for His Worship the Mayor of the Alexandrina Council, Mr Kym McHugh and Mrs Heather McHugh, and Mr Doug Sprigg, Director of the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary and Ms Vicki Wilson.  The dinner guests remained overnight at Government House.

In the afternoon students from Samaritan College toured Government House.

On Monday afternoon at Victoria Square, Adelaide, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of Volunteering SA&NT, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, officially launched National Volunteer Week in South Australia.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor, as patron of Time for Kids, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers.

In the morning community volunteers toured Government House.

On Saturday morning His Excellency the Governor, as Ambassador of the Central District Football Club, attended the President’s luncheon, before watching the match between Central District and North Adelaide at Playford Alive Oval, Elizabeth.

On Friday morning, His Excellency the Governor returned to Adelaide from his regional Vice-Regal visit to the northern Flinders Ranges.

On Friday afternoon, Mrs Scarce attended a volunteer recognition afternoon tea at Resthaven Malvern.

On Thursday His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Operation Flinders Foundation, continued to participate in the outdoors program for young people conducted by the Foundation, and later joined volunteers and staff at Yankaninna Station.

On Thursday morning in Adelaide, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor's Deputy, presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

On Wednesday morning His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Operation Flinders Foundation, arrived at Yankaninna Station, Northern Flinders Ranges, to walk and camp overnight with young people participating in the Foundation’s program.

On Tuesday morning at Government House His Excellency the Governor met with the Honourable Jay Weatherill MP, Premier of South Australia.

Afterwards the Governor received members of the Legislative Council for the presentation of the new President of the Legislative Council.

Later the Governor received members of the House of Assembly for the presentation of the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

In the afternoon at Parliament House the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, opened and formally addressed the first session of the 53rd Parliament of South Australia.

Afterwards at Government House, His Excellency and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception following the opening of Parliament.

In the evening the Governor travelled to Port Augusta to commence a regional Vice-Regal visit to the northern Flinders Ranges.

His Excellency the Governor has appointed the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor's Deputy from late afternoon on Tuesday 6th May 2014 until late afternoon on Friday 9th May 2014.

On Monday afternoon at Government House Mrs Scarce received Commander Steve Dunning RANR.

Later His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the evening His Excellency the Governor received Mr Les Stratford.

Afterwards at the Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a Lord Mayoral reception to celebrate the 150th Birthday of the Splendid Ship ‘City of Adelaide’.

On Sunday morning, the Governor, as patron of the Australian American Association in South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, placed a wreath at the Coral Sea Commemoration service at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

On Sunday the Governor and Mrs Scarce opened the public rooms of Government House for viewing by members of the community as part of History SA’s Open House Adelaide initiative.
