On Wednesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable Michael Atkinson MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Afterwards, the Governor received the Honourable John Gazzola MLC, President of the Legislative Council.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon at Government House for His Excellency Mr Yousef Ali Al-Khater, Ambassador of the State of Qatar.  Other guests included Dr Darren Peacock, Dr Moira Jenkins, Dr Nigel Ridgway and Mr Chris Spiteri, participants in the Governor’s Leadership Foundation program.

On Tuesday morning at the District Court of South Australia, His Excellency the Governor attended a special sitting to mark the appointment of His Honour Chief Judge Geoff Muecke.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Mr G Penley, President, and Mr S White, outgoing President of The Australian Institute of Building - South Australian Chapter.

Also in the morning, Mrs Scarce, as patron of The Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia, visited the Guild Museum and Patchwork Quilting Group at Mile End.

In the afternoon the Governor received Mr B Spencer, President, and Mr D Wark, Chief Executive Officer of The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA).

Afterwards the Governor, as patron, received Lieutenant Colonel M Wells, Commanding Officer, and Mr C Ashenden, President of the 7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment Association - SA Branch.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for Year 12 students representing their schools.

During the day, students from Tea Tree Gully Primary School toured Government House.

On Monday morning at Glenelg North, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Extremely Disabled War Veterans Association of South Australia, officially opened the conference of the National Association of Extremely Disabled War Veterans Association.

Later at Government House, the Governor received Mr Paul Merrow, Principal of Advisory Services/Defence Industry at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the South Australian participants in the National Youth Science Forum.

In the evening Mrs Scarce, as patron of Catherine House, attended the launch of the chART 2013 – 365 Days Photographic Exhibition at the Hawke Centre.

Afterwards in the grounds of Government House, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests at the Savour Australia Dinner hosted by Orlando Wines.

In the morning community volunteers toured Government House.

On Sunday evening at the Adelaide Central Market, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Savour Australia 2013 welcome reception, hosted by the South Australian Tourism Commission, and Primary Industries and Regions SA.

On Saturday evening at Her Majesty’s Theatre, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the performance of Meeting with Bodhisattva, as part of the OzAsia Festival.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

In the afternoon the Governor, as patron of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia, attended the 2013 Royal Adelaide Show Official Luncheon at the Adelaide Showground.

In the evening at the Adelaide Festival Centre, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the performance of Yuna, as part of the OzAsia Festival.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted an Investiture ceremony and reception for recipients of Australian Honours, Australian Bravery Decorations, and an Australian Antarctic Medal.

In the afternoon the Governor received Mr Jerry Adams, Dean of Business School, University of Adelaide.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the South Australian Public Primary Schools Music Society, attended the 2013 Festival of Music Series Concert at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

On Wednesday His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted an investiture ceremony and reception for recipients of Australian Honours.  After the ceremony the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon. Guests included Mr L Jones, SA representative to the Council for the Order of Australia; Ms E Ranieri, Acting Commisioner for Public Employment; Mr A Lawson, Acting Chief Officer, SA Country Fire Service and Mrs J Lawson; Mr R Morton, Chief Executive Officer, SA Ambulance Service; Mr C Beattie, Chief Officer, State Emergency Service SA, and Honorary Aides-de-Camp to the Governor who assisted at the ceremony.

In the evening at Elder Hall, the Governor, as patron of The Kapelle Singers, and Mrs Scarce attended the concert performance of Carmina Burana.

On Tuesday His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted an investiture ceremony and reception for recipients of Australian Honours.  After the ceremony the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon. Guests included Mr HV Le AO, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia and Mrs L Le; Air Commodore N Derwort CSC ADC, Senior Defence Force Representative - SA; Lieutenant Colonel D Edmonds, representing the Army Area Representative - SA; Commander M Doherty RAN, representing the Commanding Officer Navy Headquarters - SA and Mrs P Doherty; Mr G Burns BM APM, Commissioner of South Australia Police and Mrs D Burns, and Honorary Aides-de-Camp to the Governor who assisted at the ceremony.

On Monday morning, Mrs Scarce visited the Royal Adelaide Show at Wayville.  There she met with volunteers over morning tea in the Country Women’s Association Café, and, as patron of Girl Guides South Australia, visited the Girl Guides at their display in the Jubilee Pavilion. 

In the afternoon at Government House, His Excellency the Governor hosted a reception to welcome a delegation from the Indo Australian Chamber of Commerce in Chennai, India.

On Sunday morning the Governor, as patron of Parkinson's South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, participated in the Unity Walk along the River Torrens.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a luncheon hosted by Mr James Bruce, Honorary Consul of the British Consulate Adelaide, and Mrs Diana Bruce.

On Saturday evening His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a dinner hosted by Mr Richard Ryan AO, Chair of the Board of the Adelaide Festival Corporation, and Mrs Trish Ryan.

On Friday morning at the Adelaide Convention Centre, His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the guests at the annual Fundraising Breakfast for the Mary MacKillop Foundation.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon for His Excellency Mr Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia and Mrs Nino Nadjib Riphat.  Other guests included Mr GRM Jusuf, Indonesian Consul-General; Mr D Edgecombe, Indonesian Honorary Consul; Mr FA Bima and Ms N Tambunan, Indonesian Vice-Consuls; Ms Ernawati, Indonesian First Secretary; and Mr F Seeley AM, Chairman of Seeley International; Mr D McGurk, Managing Director of Codan Limited and Mr D Spinks, Managing Director of Precision Components Australia.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a dinner for His Excellency Mr Jeffrey Bleich, Ambassador of the United States Of America.  Other guests included Ms M Burce Warlick, Consul-General of the United States Of America, and Mr A Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA and Mrs J Fletcher.

On Wednesday morning at the Hilton Adelaide, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of Volunteering SA&NT, delivered the opening address at the 15th National Conference of Volunteering.

In the afternoon at Edinburgh Parks, the Governor visited the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia - Northern Suburbs Sub-Branch and joined members for a luncheon.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Community Living and Support Services.

On Tuesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, who is president of the Australian Red Cross - South Australia Division, received Ms Val Broadbent, Patron; Ms Penny Stratmann LVO, Chair of the Centenary Committee, and Ms Helen Connolly, Executive Director.

In the afternoon the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce, hosted a reception to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Asthma Foundation of SA.

Afterwards the Governor received The Honourable Tom Kenyon MP, Minister for Manufacturing, Innovation and Trade.

On Monday morning, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor's Deputy, presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

In the evening His Excellency the Governor, and Mrs Scarce, who is patron of Her Majesty's Theatre Building Fund, attended the Centenary Concert and ABC Radio Outside Broadcast at Her Majesty's Theatre.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

Afterwards the Governor, as a guest of Defence Force Recruiting, addressed the gathering and officially opened the Australian Defence Force Career Expo at the Torrens Parade Ground.

His Excellency the Governor has appointed the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor’s Deputy from 12:30 pm on Friday 30th August 2013 until 1:00 pm on Monday 2nd September 2013 during his absence on leave.

In the afternoon at the Glenelg Golf Club, His Excellency the Governor’s Deputy, on behalf of the Governor, who is patron of the Legacy Club of Adelaide, attended a luncheon and presented the Cup and other trophies to the winners of the 65th Annual Legacy Governor's Cup.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards at the Commonwealth Law Courts Building in Adelaide, the Governor attended a special sitting on the occasion of the retirement of The Honourable Justice Bruce Lander as a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia.

Later the Governor, as patron of the Legacy Club of Adelaide, attended the Legacy Women's Commemoration Service at Maughan Church.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor hosted a luncheon for Her Excellency Mrs Annemieke Ruigrok, Ambassador of the Netherlands.  Other guests included Mr W Ouwens, Honorary Consul for the Netherlands and Ms L McLay, Mr A Plastow, Ms M McCallum and Ms N Wynn, participants in the Governor’s Leadership Foundation program.

Later the Governor, as patron of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in South Australia, received Mr P Kaye, Chief Executive of National Award Authority, and Ms J Kennedy, Acting Manager of Community Development Programs, Department for Communities and Social Inclusion.

In the evening the Governor hosted a reception for the presentation of the 2013 Creative Partnerships Australia Awards for South Australia & Northern Territory.

On Wednesday morning His Excellency the Governor, as a guest of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training, officially opened the Asia Pacific International Education Forum at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

In the afternoon at the National Wine Centre of Australia, the Governor, as an Honorary Member, attended a luncheon in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Adelaide.

In the evening at Government House, the Governor hosted a reception in celebration of the 90th anniversary of The English-Speaking Union, SA Branch.

Later at the Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor, as patron of the Special Interest Music Centres in South Australia, attended a concert by Marryatville High School.

On Monday morning, students from Goodwood Primary School toured Government House.

On Sunday afternoon at the Adelaide Town Hall, His Excellency the Governor, as Patron of the Metropolitan Male Choir of South Australia, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, attended the 2013 Proms Concert.

On Saturday morning at AAMI Stadium, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Chairman of the Adelaide Football Club, attended the pre-match function and football game between the Adelaide Crows and the Melbourne Demons.

In the evening in Morphett Vale, the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, addressed the gathering at the Returned and Services League of Australia - Morphett Vale and District Sub-Branch’s annual dinner.

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive of Defence SA, to discuss the South Australian defence industry.

Afterwards at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Governor received a briefing on Stage One of the Centre’s redevelopment followed by a site inspection.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor received Ms Judy Potter, Chair, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in South Australia, and Ms Justine Kennedy, Acting Manager, Community Development Programs, Department of Communities and Social Inclusion.

In the evening at the Adelaide Pavilion, the Governor, as Patron, and Mrs Scarce attended the annual dinner of The Pioneers Association of South Australia.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards in Elizabeth, the Governor toured three sites to observe the work of the Playford Community Fund.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor received Mr Hieu Van Le AO, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia.

Later at Government House, His Excellency the Governor, as Patron of Athletics South Australia, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to thank volunteers and supporters.

On Wednesday afternoon at Government House His Excellency the Governor, as Patron-in-Chief of the University of South Australia - The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, and Mrs Scarce hosted a luncheon for the 2013 Annual Hawke Lecture.  Guests included The Honourable Bob Hawke AC, Dr Elizabeth Blackburn AC, Sir Eric Neal AC CVO, Lady Neal AM, The Honourable Dr Basil Hetzel AC CBE, Mrs Ann Hetzel, Professor Lowitja O'Donoghue AC CBE, Dr Ian Gould AM, Mrs Christine Gould, Professor David Lloyd, Mr Robyn Williams and Ms Elizabeth Ho OAM.

Afterwards at Government House, the Governor received Mr Raymond Spencer, Chairman, Economic Development Board.

In the evening at the Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the 2013 Sixteenth Annual Hawke Lecture delivered by Dr Elizabeth Blackburn AC.

On Tuesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the presentation of the 2013 Churchill Fellowship Awards.

In the evening, the Governor as Patron-in-Chief of the University of South Australia - The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, attended the launch of the University of South Australia Elizabeth Blackburn Fellowship and conferred Royal Institution of Australia Honorary Bragg Membership on Dr Elizabeth Blackburn AC.

On Thursday morning at Government House, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor's Deputy, presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

On Tuesday morning at The Pathway of Honour, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le AO, as Governor's Deputy and as a guest of the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment Association - South Australian Branch, unveiled a memorial for the 50th Infantry Battalion Australian Imperial Force and placed a wreath at a service for the memorial's dedication.

On Friday morning, Year 11 Legal Studies students from Westminster School toured Government House.
